Submissions
Send me your poems to read while my baby naps?
Doesn't matter if you've never written a poem before or if you're a well-seasoned poet, your work is welcome. Don't self-reject. Gatekeeping art is for the birds.
Want a chill, unpretentious place to house your poetry? Want a bespoke* doodle to accompany your poem?
This could be the place.
Send me poems you're passionate about and the ones that surprised you. The favorites and the black sheep. And whatever else your weird heart desires.
Hold your horses and do read the rest of the guidelines before submitting.
*doodles by the editor could be odd
Send up to three of your short poems (30 lines max each) to [email protected] in the body of your email.
Include a short third person bio (50 words) along with your submission that I will publish with your poems if selected.
Your email subject line should say your last name and the number of poems you're submitting (ex: Adams 3 Poems).
English Submissions only at this time please.
Cover letters are not necessary.
Simultanious submissions are okay, just tell me asap if your work gets picked up elsewhere.
No multiple submissions.
No previously published works.
Please wait a month before submitting again if your poems have been declined. Please wait six months before submitting again if your poems are published.
Absolutely no: hate speech, transphobia, racism, misogyny, homophobia, AI of any kind, or hate mail. If you send me this I will put you on a block list.
Nothing that includes graphic violence or sexual assault please.
No erotica please. It's just not my vibe.
Currently this is not a paying market.
Nap Lit requests one-time, first publishing rights. All rights will be retained by the writer. If your poem is published elsewhere in the future, please acknowledge the poem's first appearance in Nap Lit.
Poems will be published weekly. Response time is around a week depending on the volume of submissions.
